The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

John Smith

finds documents containing 'John' or 'Smith'

John or Smith

same as above

John and Smith

finds documents containing both 'John' and 'Smith'

John not Smith

finds documents containing 'John' but not 'Smith'

(John not Smith) and Jones

finds documents containing 'Jones', plus 'John' but not 'Smith'

web*

finds documents containing words starting with 'web'
